information about Camera filters?

Question by wacka wacka wacka: information about Camera filters?
I do not know anything about them. Don’t judge, I’m learning. Where can I find the best deal on them and what are some of the advantages of them other than protecting your lens. Also, what kind of affects can they do to your pictures?
Yahooansers– Successful in hosting a site for a bunch of smart arses…thank you, all of you for always correcting me. I know that it is only in the most condescending way possible and I appreciate that…NOT. What do you think YAHOOANSWERS is for?? Obviously to get answers no need to be snarky in the process, Gracias.

Actually there are NO camera filters.

The filters are used on the lenses, not the camera.

The UV filter is mostly used to protect lenses front elements from sticky fingers.

The polarizing filters are used to remove reflections when shooting outdoors during the day and can darken the sky north and south of the suns arc.

ND filters are used to increase the shutter speed to times long enough to produce blur during the day, like having moving water look like cotton.

That is it.

Any white balance is done in a digital camera camera.

If you are using a 35 mm film camera, then you will need warming or cooling filters depending upon the film you have in the camera and the light falling on the subject

Example: FLD is a filter used to correct for fluorescent lighting when using daylight film. The FLB is used to correct for fluorescent lighting when using tungsten (type B) film,.

  1. There is one camera filter – the IR blocking filter. If you remove that, you will get some out-of-this-world results with your pictures.

UV filters are more useful for protection.

Polarizers can be used to cut glare from water and glass surfaces.

Neutral Density filters are helpful in decreasing light intensity in case you have maxed out your aperture settings.

Other filters used for special effects can more or less be duplicated using a powerful graphics program in the computer.

If you don’t know anything, learn and be patient. Learning is a process where you make mistakes. If you don’t make mistakes, you don’t need to learn. If you are corrected, someone is out there trying to teach you. If you don’t want to be corrected, go elsewhere. If you stay put you can learn selectively from those who already know, may they be an arse or a snark.

In case you didn’t know yet, that was the #1 expert in Photography and Cameras you were referring to. I have learned a lot from his answers. If you can’t, sorry for you.
