I ended up with the Olympus E-PL1. Its a older model but has a great features for a beginner.
There ok but you could really do with something with a bigger range of Manual settings and features sch as Manual zoom and a hot shoe
No, I’m afraid this is simply a dreadful camera. I have been out photographing some ships today and out of 25 photos only 1 was worth keeping.

I agree, this camera is utter junk. I just use it for photography but it is one seriously defective product. You can 100% forget the automatic setting and even in the EXR mode it over-exposes, especially the sky. The DR mode is slightly better but not much.
I too was robbed and I fully intend to sell it after about a year which will be May 2013.
I’ll try to get something out of it for a year simply so I don’t loose so much on it.

Hi, have you switched the “focus check” to off?. Go into the menu and it’s on P4 of the “set”.
It’s still a crap camera but I’ve found this helps a little.

Hi, I just bought the HS20EXR used but in brand new condition for just under $220 and wanted to know what settings you would reccommend for video 1080p(to avoid constant re-focussing and maintain the best quality) and for stills(achieve highest possible picture quality without worrying about size of the photo files). How do I convert RAW images taken on my HS20 EXR to .jpeg? Jpeg photos are lacking in quality I find, but there’s no option to convert RAW images on the software that came with my camera. (FinepixViewer for Mac OS X 10.6) and I’m unable to open RAW in any other programmes and save as a jpeg. Help please?

The quick access button for RAW is found on the Direction Pad by press UP on it. If you have it set to JPEG, pressing UP on the D-Pad will set it to RAW for the next shot, and then it reverts back to JPEG again. Try avoid press UP on the D-Pad when you are shooting. This is probably what is happening.
For video, the internal mic on the camera will pickup noise from the exposure controls (shutter/aperture/zoom motors). Only thing to help reduce the amount of that noise is to set the Movie Focus to “CENTER” instead of “CONTINUOUS”. Other than that, there is no much more. You can always use some sort of portable external mic and then sync the audio to the video in your video editing software. I have done that for some older Fuji Guys videos.
One more thing please! When I am taking pictures, sometimes my camera will change the film to RAW without me touching it and it is really annoying. Is there some easy way to fix this too?
fujiguys! Please help! My camera is great and I love it, but how do I get rid of or at least reduce the amount of scratching recorded by the camera!? Its been driving me nuts! I have a video posted for it. Also, please don’t tell me to turn off AF because I can still hear it and I want to be able to use that awesome feature!

1. The thing beside the EVF is the diopter adjustment dial. Adjust it to fit your eyesight. As for noise, that is normal. the exposure is adjusting as well as the Stabilization system on the camera.
If HR6 are AA types and are NiMH, then yes, it will work fine.
Yes, there’s an app for that.. I mean button for that :-). It toggles between EVF/LCD/EYE Sensor.
It’s to focus the digital viewfinder in case you are lon or short sighted or whatever. 🙂
Hello, do you know “photo SFX art” (just search on Google for it …)? On their website you will find a good free video demonstrating how you can create better photos. It made it possible for Daniel to create pictures which have a jaw-dropping-effect whenever you take a look at them. It might help you as well.
Further to that, is there anyway to turn of the automatic change to the EVF… I’d rather just press the button instead of it changing automatically.
