I had gone through several versions of portable stools in my work as a professional sports photographer. Stools are allowed or even required for some events like pro soccer or in the photo well at some MLB parks (where there never seem to be enough chairs and paying fans are sometimes right behind you so you can’t stand up). I tried a free three-legged stool given by my bank; it lasted two games before one of the legs broke. I bought one at local sporting good store – it made it through 4 games before the webbing started to rip off two of the legs. Then a buddy showed me his WalkStool and I knew this would be a product I could use. It’s built like a Swedish tank (I think the company is Swedish). Not only is it very, very strong, but It can be quickly folded up and snapped to your belt or other equipment, and it’s so light you hardly notice it’s there.

Don’t waste your time trying to save a few bucks. I weigh > 200 pounds and really didn’t want to be sitting on something only to have it give way underneath me when I needed it most.

I am handicapped. I cannot stand for long periods of time without a lot of pain. I thought about those canes with little stools but they didn’t seem sturdy. I am a large woman and although I weigh less than the canes are rated for (250 lbs) they look poorly built.

So I ordered this stool. This model is made in scandinavia and is rated for 440 pounds. It comes in a case and it folds down to about 14″ long. It is easy to use, you fold out the legs into the tripod shape and then you pull out the lower legs. The seat is attached and spreads out as you fold the legs outward. It is a very fast process. To fold it up you do the same in reverse, pushing buttons to push the legs back in and folding everything back flat.

The seat is about as high as your average chair, like a kitchen chair. You put one point of the seat between your legs. It is a comfortable seat and angled such that your back is arched properly. It is comfortable to sit in.

I’m glad I bought it. I’ll find it useful to use and easy to carry around.
