I bought this to use with my Nikon D3100. I had some issues with this remote. The manual appears to be a literal translation to English, so parts of the manual initially do not make sense without a little interpretation on your part. I mention the manual’s translation because I believe it influenced my overall experience with the remote.

The biggest issue I had with the remote is the signal being sent between the two units at a constant two-second interval. Possibly to keep the units in synch? Anyway, this signal would be interpreted by the D3100 as the shutter being halfway depressed. It’s very frustrating when trying to set the metering or focus just to have it reset while recomposing the scene. The workaround was to use manual focus and AE lock. The instruction manual was of little use, because I didn’t quite understand their fix to the problem due to the way the translation reads. I went to the manufacturer’s web site hoping there might be a pdf of the manual that was better translated (I’ve found that to be the case on many occasions with different products) but there is no support for ANY of their products. There were only sales and marketing related links.

Interestingly I had no problems using it as a remote flash trigger. It turned out to be more useful this way.

Ultimately I returned the remote for a refund. It’s possible that the unit I received was defective, hence the constant half depressed signal to the shutter.

I gave it three stars because the remote was OK. It’s definitely not garbage, but didn’t measure up enough for me to keep either. Had the instructions be clearer, or support was available at the manufacturer’s web site this may have easily been a 4 (or even 5) star review.
