I use a Lensbaby for some of my commercial work because i love the way I can channel a viewer’s attention to a specific area of an image by using one. But wh…
+Scott Davenport what do you think of the Lensbaby system ?
Lensbaby: Product Review: Adorama Photography TV
I ordered whole kit, and sending back, very disappointed,, to much work to
get a photo, not good for moving nature also.. too much work for that
effect,, you can do that in photoshop.. toy for play with is all..,, or to
play in a studio with on something not moving..
is there a focal length? i dont get it
I have the feeling that pro or serious enthusiasts will only buy this for
its tilt shift ability with Higher quality primes.
well said. Manual focusing is a skill any and every REAL photographer
should posses. I direct my comment specifically at manual focusing as that
seems to be the #1 complaint.
I still have a feeling these are just novelty lenses.. Hipsters might buy
it, but probably not pros..
nicely explained
how about the image quality , i can remember when i try the lensbaby years
ago it had horrible image quality. (i tried the one with the glass lens,
not the plastic one)
why it looks like an smartphone-instegram photo?
I’d love to try one of those out for fun.
good point, but if you can afford Hasselblad eqp, then this doesn’t apply
to you then. Us mortals have to settle for Nikon and/or Canon.
Whole lot cheaper to put a blur in photoshop then buying this baby.;)
Try the double glass optic, great sharp images.
a lot of pros buy them, myself included. check out the lensbaby site for
pro images and tips.
thanks
This guy???? Lol hes one of the best instructors around. Hes amazing on
kelby training and took many of his classes! Great job Rich keep it up!
This is a manual lens, understanding and knowing how to manually focus is
key as a photographer, I learned on a Nikon FG 35mm film camera so I am
used to manual focusing. I find that the Composer Pro double glass optic I
bought gets me VERY sharp images. Photoshop like the camera is a tool. a
good photographer knows his/her tools, however tools DO NOT substitute for
skill. Try learning to manually focus and you’ll love this kit. check out
the lensbaby site for pro images with Composer Pro.
In camera is always sweeter.
I have to admit though – you definitely get rid of problems from having too
few aperture blades with those perfectly circular aperture inserts 🙂
I love the look of 30s glamour and I realized that the softness of the
images had a lot to do with tilt/shift. This system looks like it would
allow me to do the same effect, but it’s confusing to me what exactly I
need. I got into digital for it to be my “polaroid” for my 35mm Canon A2E.
Funny how that didn’t work out as the 20D, then 40D, became my primes.
Enjoyed the video. Very useful and explained in an easy concise and
comprehensive manner. Thank you. Going to watch more of your videos now.
Toddles!
never used one, but after watching this i’m going to get one :)
Sorry mike. What is your Facebook page called?
Great videos mike. Have just started out your videos are very clear and
very easy to understand. Invaluable help.
Blimey, never heard of those things but they look pretty useful.
No – lensbabies do what they do – and tilt shifts are a different thing.
Mike, are you on Facebook?
Just discovered you (well, just discovered a passion for photography).
Great videos, clear and concise. Whereas I would a gree that a bad picture
cannot be made into a good picture with Photoshop, I don’t understand why
so many photographers frown at using Photoshop to achieve effects that can
only be achieved ‘in camera’ with the use of very expensive equipment.
Surely every means is acceptable and it’s the result that counts.
Cheers for the info
Excellent videos! Excellent teacher and always with the greatest attitude!
You the man!
Cheers takeme2urmac. it’s probably the same FX / CX issue as with any lens,
suggest you email Lensbaby and ask them. They are very hard to focus
especially with wide apertures which is why i always use a tripod to keep
them still. And yes you have to up the ISO in low light – but that’s the
same with any lens.
Yes – there’s a link on our channel home page. Click the photo next to this

No problem at all Mike, thank you for your reply. And by the way, LOVE your
videos! Subscribed after watching my first one!
Thank you
Good jod, great videos, very well explained.
Hi mike as always Excellent. M big follower of you. Also need your help. I
am using canon, not full frame and going to shoot by bro wedding. which
lens you suggest I should use.
thanks Mike for the reply
Why not just edit your photo in post? In-camera loss of detail…what every
professional photographer wants, right?
Hi Mike! Just a quick question….you use the D300, I have the D200. Your
opinion on this camera? I know it is the D300’s little brother, but just
wanted a pro opinion.
The DSLR? a Nikon 18-70 kit lens
Cool. Thank you 🙂
Thanks man! Your videos are great. 🙂
Great demonstration and explanation!
