Hey can you explain why it is important to shoot above ‘normal sync speeds’
(above 1/200 second)? I’m confused where this technique comes in handy,
like outside or inside shoots, etc. Thanks
umm So I have Nikon D3200 and doesn’t seem to have a way to allow me to go
past 1/200 shutterspeed, any help? the only way is to upgrade? :/
Whats wrong with your model ? she look so dead.
I’m unable to locate the FP from my Nikon D5200.Or does it have another
name on it.
My Nikon D3200 doesn’t that pencil icon.
AMAZING!!!
I loved that you went into detail as well as showed the difference between
the different techniques 🙂
Thank you, for sharing! :D
how did you manage to point the flash at her directly and not burn out the
image? my biggest problem is over exposure
For outside shooting with a Nikon are you using the on camera flash with
the TTL setting?

Thanks for the informative video.
Could you tell me how to get the background completely black, I notice that
once you had dialled back 3 stops there was nowhere to go. Should I up my
shutter speed, or add another flash, or maybe use an ND filter?
Amazing information, just what I needed! thanks a lot!
Finally a video that can help flash n00bs!
Who disliked this? Amazing info and tips specially with nikon settings.
Thanks keep them coming
As many others said, this video is good, but is very Canon biased, as it
missed a very basic and important feature of Nikon cameras. You don’t have
to go into Manual mode. With Nikon, if you decrease the exposure comp for
the ambient light by -1, you can increase the flash compensation by the
same amount (+1 in this example) to keep your subject at the original
exposure. It is very easy and allows great separate control of ambient and
flash.
Thanks Mark, great pointer for my Nikon and using shutter speed to reduce
ambient light.
about that flash bounce off the green wall, could you also pre-set the WB
of the green wall instead of place a reflector there?
Wow this is very helpful. Thank you very much!
Why shoot in aperture mode? Just shoot in manual all the time.
@tbonestalone My dog is happy with a P&S but when it comes to dinner he’ll
take steak over hamburger any day!!
Ref At 15:04 and before that, At 11:41
hahahaha, I didn’t notice that the 7D looks like a midget beside the Nikon
D3s, and I though the 7D was big
Excellent tips… Thanks so much
Thanks so much 🙂
I also found the Program mode very helpful for event shoot, where actions
and resources aren’t in our control 🙂
Cheers from Bangalore India
Nice video, thanks
is not a great tip to use automatic modes
Very Straight to the Point……..Great Job Ed Verosky
Whats a good flash for under 140$ that does eTTL and the settings you were

Thanks for the reminders, sometimes we forget the Little things. great
tutorial.
presented in excellent form.
Thank you very much for all of your great tutorials – you are a good
teacher.
Fantastic tips and well-presented! One problem I’ve had, though…even
when I have my camera at Av and the flash at High Speed Sync, the shutter
speed sets itself very low. Is this a problem when inside shooting at low
light? Is it only possible to use Av and High Speed Sync flash outside when
there is a lot of ambient light?
Ed, Your the BEST!! Your book and tutorials have given me confidence and
increased my the quality of my photos 110% I now take my flash with me all
the time.
Master
