Q&A: Nikon D3100………..?

Question by Adrianna: Nikon D3100………..?
I have a nikon d3100 camera. I’m trying to take pictures for my website. I’m new to this whole photography thing. When I take pictures of my products they come out clear however the background is blurry. How can I fix this. what settings should I have the camera on..right now I’m using aperture mode (that’s what I was told to use). I would appreciate if someone could write out the step by step directions to setting the camera up. Thanks

If you need your background to be in focus, you will have to stop the lens down. Are you sure it is important that the background is sharp:? Leaving a background out of focus will cause the viewer to pay more attention to your product

Look on page 76 of your user manual.

Since you are shooting your own products, you may want to make sure that you are using a good sturdy tripod and remote shutter release. Remember to provide good lighting to show your products at their best.
