   I like the heavy duty metal, but there are 2 issues with using an umbrella with this product:

   -The umbrella holder opening is too small for the shaft of some umbrellas…my Westscott 43″ double fold umbrella will NOT FIT at all. The Paul Buff parabolic umbrellas also do not fit. My brolly umbrellas fit due to their slender rods.

   -the umbrella holder hole is level, not inclined. Better umbrella swivels (and most of the plastic ones I’ve seen) are built so that there is a “right” direction to put the umbrella in. The hole is typically made with a slight incline so that the center of the umbrella is higher and your flash can more easily fire into the center instead of at the edge. With this flat hole, the flash fires at the top edge of the umbrella.

   If you intend to use this as the “umbrella swivel holder / bracket” that it is, keep looking. I bought 2 and would consider sending them back.

   Fotodiox has hit and miss items at times however, this product is definitely a bang for it’s cost.

   The unit is heavy and feels professional. The only cheap plastic parts are the adjustments for tilt and the part that tightens to the adapter (to tripod/light stand).

   It comes with a removable metal adapter, which allows you to attach to 1/8″ and 3/4″ light stands. You can also remove it if required.

   The cold shoe is metal as well and acts like a vice. I wish the cold shoe was a little longer though.

   Overall, I’m satisfied with my purchase. Definitely a great investment if your on a budget.

   Stay away from those cheap umbrella brackets offered by BestDealsUSA and etc. They’re plastic and fall apart!

   The product is really a three in one. 1. Holds hot shoe. 2. Attaches umbrella and 3. fixes to the tripod. The last is enabled with a clever bolt in the bottom that is reversible so it will fit in a 3/8 inch or 1/4 inch screw. This bolt can be removed and the contraption can be used on standard light stands.

   The bottom can rotate like a panoramic tripod head. The umbrella can tilt so you can have the light in literally any position that you desire.

   Compared to the other plastic product that sells on Amazon for more, this is better. If buying multiple products, this will turn out to be cheaper.

   Highly recommend if setting up a home studio on a budget.
